Let’s go to safari parks – in western Japan
Not just visiting sightseeing spots in Japan, but how about a journey of interaction with many lives on the planet? We will introduce you to safari parks in Wakayama, Hyogo, and Oita, representing western Japan.
Adventure World – one of the biggest animal kingdoms in Japan! (Wakayama Prefecture)
You can meet animals from all around the world in this extensive site. Marine World has live shows of dolphins and whales, and Safari World has cruises by jeeps and train-style vehicles driving among animals as they are. Panda Love and Breeding Center has gotten more attention with general exhibition of a baby panda Yuihin, just born in September 2016 (opening to the public between10:15 and 15:00 as of February 5).

Himeji Central Park – Thrilling safari experience! (Hyogo Prefecture)
This is a leisure land attaching an amusement park and a gourmet zone, as well as a safari park with 1,000 animals of about 120 species. Drive-Thru Safari, driving among wild animals, has started a new “SAFARI THE RIDE” (extra charge). This is a cage-shaped bus to let you get closer to animals and feel their breathing. It is better to reserve a seat in advance because all seats are specified. Walking Safari is another popular attraction, which you can pet small animals while walking around.

It’s like a round-trip on worldwide habitats! “Kyushu Natural Zoological Park African Safari” (Oita Prefecture)
There is a 6 km safari road where you can look at animals’ gestures and faces closely in their own natural environments. How about riding an animal-shaped bus "jungle bus" (Adults 1,100yen) there? You can feed them directly through the fence and observe ecology of animals. There is also “Deai no mura” where you can enjoy petting animals such as miniature horses, kangaroos, and squirrel monkeys. Famous hot springs such as Yufuin and Beppu are also near by. So if you have time, enjoy both African safari and hot springs at once!
