What is Ueno?

Ueno had been famous for the mansion of one of Daimyo Todo Takatora, and the family temple of Tokugawa, Kanei-ji Temple since Edo period (1603 - 1868). It came to be known as a sightseeing place by the birth of Ueno Park, which is the first park of Japan established in May, 1876.

This Japan’s representative art museum was established in 1959, and registered as a World Heritage Site in 2016. How to get to Ueno

How to get to Ueno
There are various access methods to Ueno Station such as JR lines and Tokyo Metro Ginza and Hibiya lines. It is about 10 minutes by JR Yamanote Line, Ueno Tokyo Line, Keihin Tohoku Line from Tokyo Station. It takes about 15 minutes on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line from Ginza, and even you can walk from Akihabara over 20 minutes. It would be better to use railways when you have lots of luggage.

There is a direct access by Keisei Skyliner if you come to Ueno from Narita Airport. From Haneda Airport, it is recommended to use the monorail from haneda to Hamamatsu-cho, and change to JR Yamanote Line or Keihin Tohoku Line. There is no direct bus from either Narita or Haneda Airport.
